The Annual Iranian Mathematics Conference (AIMC) is probably the oldest continuously running scientific event in Iran. This multi-purpose meeting is the largest gathering of Iranian mathematicians in Iran and includes, in addition to scientific programs, the Annual Council Meeting of Iranian Mathematical Society, panel discussions on current issues of interest to Iranian mathematical community and various award ceremonies. The scientific program includes plenary talks and sessions for contributed paper presentations.
The participation of foreign mathematicians has been an integral part of AIMC and has contributed to the richness of the event and its international stature. Over the last 40 years a number of the world’s best-known mathematical figures have participated in the event.
The venue of AIMC rotates among Iranian institutions. In the past, Sharif University of Technology has been the site of 2nd, 8th and 25th conferences and is now on schedule for hosting the 40th AIMC during 17-20 August 2009. As satellite activity, AIMC 40 will host various research and instructional workshops some preceding the conference. In addition, the event will provide a unique opportunity for gathering the many outstanding Sharif alumni here and abroad in mathematical sciences.
